Falling is the leading cause of injury-related death, hospitalisation and emergency department attendances, according to Perth-based not-for-profit Injury Matters.

In its latest annual Falls Report , the organisation details who, where and how falls are occurring in Western Australia.

Among people aged 85 and over, falls accounted for 10 per cent of all emergency department visits.

In 2023, people aged 65 and over accounted for more than two-thirds of falls-related hospitalisations.
