Rajamouli’s team, led by his son Karthikeya, had planned a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke — the father of Indian cinema — in Hindi and other languages. This project was announced to the media some time ago.

Speculation was rife that NTR would portray Phalke. There were also reports of Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani planning a similar film. However, the latest update is that NTR has opted out of the project.

He reportedly prefers not to take up a pan-Indian film that isn’t being directed by Rajamouli, but only presented by him.

Additionally, after the debacle of his Bollywood debut “War 2,” NTR is said to be wary of Hindi ventures and is choosing to focus solely on Telugu films.
