Chery Australia has confirmed the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid (or CSH) for local release next month, when the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) large SUV will initially be available in a single variant priced at 59,990 before on-road costs.

The new flagship SUV for the Chinese brand will sit above the existing Tiggo 8 , fitted with seven seats and all-wheel drive as standard, plus a PHEV system offering up to 170km (NEDC) of pure electric driving range, and a combined range of up to 1250km with a full battery and fuel tank.

The PHEV drivetrain incorporates a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine teamed with two electric motors on the front axle as well as a single e-motor at the rear, producing total system outputs quoted at 315kW of power and 580Nm of torque. The electric motors are fed
