Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has officially declared an environmental emergency in Caddo County after a significant saltwater purge contaminated Five Mile Creek near Eakly, killing dozens of cattle and wildlife in the area.

The declaration comes in response to a September 24 letter from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) detailing a saltwater discharge from the ground near a suspected saltwater disposal well site.
