The Supreme Court has denied Google's request to pause significant changes to its app store policies, a development that stems from legal proceedings initiated by Epic Games, creator of 'Fortnite'.

Judge James Donato's order requires Google to facilitate rival app store access and offer alternative payment methods on its Play Store, changes set to start this month and in July 2026.

Google intends to appeal, citing potential risks and adverse impacts on billions of users, while Epic Games insists the adjustments promote choice and competition in the app marketplace.
