Don’t get too excited. It’s a scam.
The viral social media post is a hoax aimed at pulling heartstrings. The new cat sanctuary claims to rescue, rehab, and rehome stray and abandoned cats. The place allegedly has a state-of-the-art vet clinic, play areas, and adoption lounges. But it’s all fake.
“Deep fakes are so easy to make and easy to use,” said Steve Weisman with Scamcide. “Anyone can do them. It doesn’t require any level of sophistication.”
