Fashion retailer Famous Footwear has launched a huge clearance sale as it prepares to close all stores in the new year.

The retailer of women’s shoes announced on Monday that its online store will be taken down just before midnight on December 31, with physical stores shutting their doors soon after.

In order to clear stock, a special closing down sale is taking a further 30 per cent off of all online sales.

The retailer has since alerted online shoppers that online orders will be “delayed up to 10 days ... due to unprecedented order volume”.

The company had 17 retail stores with more than 200 employees across Queensland , NSW and Victoria , according to Famous Footwear’s LinkedIn page.
