The Gerard Community Council Aboriginal Corporation has been convicted and fined after failing to lodge a number of reports with the federal registrar.
The registrar, also known as the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) requires its corporations to prepare and lodge one or more reports annually for publication on the Register of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations.
Gerard Community Council is a small Indigenous-run local government area based in South Australia's Riverland area.
It is considered a medium sized council under ORIC, and the township had a population of 50 people in 2021, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
