After a runner-up finish as a sophomore, Milford’s Kyle O’Rourke became a back-to-back individual winner and helped the Mavs’ boys team claim top honors in Saturday’s Oakland County Cross Country Championships.

Running on the team’s home course at Kensington Metropark, O’Rourke, who took third at last year’s D1 state finals, sliced over a second off his winning time as a junior and finished in 15:46.04. Teammate Todd Tobin helped swing the tide for the Mavericks, shaving over 30 seconds off his finish as a freshman in 2024 (22nd place) and came in fifth with a time of 16:33.35. Additionally, Gannon Wheeler of Milford took 14th.
