Rite Aid, once among the nation’s largest pharmacy chains, has officially shut its doors nationwide following years of financial turmoil and legal challenges.

The company confirmed the closure of its remaining 89 stores this week, marking the end of a retail era that began more than six decades ago. Visitors to the company’s website over the weekend were greeted with a farewell message: “All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support.” The site now only provides a link for customers to request their pharmacy records.
