Perth Wildcats guard Jaron Rillie says coach and his father John has given him the simplest of advice as he makes an early impression on the Red Army as a bench player.

Rillie’s high energy and impactful showings off the bench have gone far beyond scoring, with the development player already proving his worth in just 20 minutes of game time.

If there were doubts from Wildcats fans over the signing of the coach’s son, they have quickly been washed away, with Perth a staggering +46 in the points department when Rillie Jr is on the court.

The younger Rillie said the early feedback from his coach had been level-headed and had encouraged him to stay grounded.

“Just like everyone else, there’s things I’ve still got to work on. There’s things I’m doing well, can I continue to build on those?
