A village playpark has been demolished after three homeowners took legal action against a parish council over "noisy" football games.

Residents in the picturesque village of Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire , have been left outraged after council workers began tearing up the sports pitch.

The multi-use games area (MUGA) was launched in the village's Memorial Park in 2010 following a community fundraising drive. Shortly afterwards three locals filed complaints with the council regarding the noise of "bouncing footballs" striking the metal sides.

They argued the MUGA violated planning guidance as it sat just metres from the closest property and pursued the council through the courts in 2021. A judge initially determined the complainants were "hypersensitive to noise" but a
