ROCHESTER — The city, home to Lilac Club Casino , is looking to take advantage of a new state law, allowing municipalities that have a casino within their borders to cash in on a share of gambling revenue.
By law, gaming facilities in New Hampshire must donate 35% of their take to nonprofit groups in the area where their casino is located.
Eric Barbaro, chief operating officer for the Lilac Club Casino, said there was previously a provision that allowed municipalities to seek a share of that revenue, but he said it was very difficult. He said the new law that took effect July 1 streamlined the process, and he is happy to see Rochester take part in it.
