Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday visited Mirik in Darjeeling district to assess the widespread destruction caused by incessant rains and landslides that have claimed several lives and damaged property.
Accompanied by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista and Leader of Opposition Suvendhu Adhikari, Rijiju interacted with the affected families and took stock of the ongoing relief and rescue operations.
Speaking to reporters, Rijiju said, “There has been immense damage here. Many lives have been lost and numerous homes have been destroyed. Providing immediate help and assistance to the bereaved families and those who have lost their homes is our top priority.”
