A grand jury has indicted a former Randolph County High School teacher and cheer coach for one charge of sexual intercourse with a student.
According to court documents, Makaela Caldwell Hodgins, 32, of Woodland, was arrested and ordered a bond of $30,000.
Charging documents state that the male student was under the age of 19, but do not specify his age.
A Facebook post from Randolph County High School introduced Hodgins as the RCHS cheer coach in 2022. The post stated Hodgins grew up in Randolph County, where she was captain of the cheerleading squad at Woodland High School. She was a cheerleader at the University of West Alabama, where she earned her Master of Education and met her husband.
