Kilmar Ábrego García’s case was back at the U.S. District Court in Greenbelt on Monday, though he was not in the courtroom.
It was evident that the federal judge presiding over the case was “frustrated” as the status conference included a pair of motions and references to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
The government cited the shutdown in asking for a pause on the entire case, which the judge swiftly denied.
During the hearing, the judge expressed frustration, repeatedly calling out and dressing down the government’s team for showing up unprepared and for being unwilling and unable to answer her basic questions.
