COHASSET — Fourteen months after the Park Fire razed much of the Cohasset community, residents are beginning to rebuild and reporting less truck traffic after the completion of debris removal by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
Cohasset resident of 19 years Maggie Kriehbel said post-fire recovery activity by the state has wound down, and residents are seeing fewer logging and dump trucks which burdened residents with long traffic stops, some more than 45 minutes.
Kriehbel said many Cohasset residents have started rebuilding on their properties, while others secured fifth wheel trailers for temporary occupancy.
“I don’t know that we’ll get everyone back, but we’re grateful for any of our neighbors who do get back,” Kriehbel said.
