Theatre to host city's first 'Black Out night' for black audiences View Image

A theatre in Bristol will be hosting a "black out" night this week. As part of the run of Main Character Energy at the Bristol Old Vic , there will be a show aimed at black-identifying audience members, to give them a unique experience of the production and a chance to discuss its themes - free from the white gaze.

The Bristol Old Vic has clarified that Black Out night is just one evening and that no one is excluded.

Nancy Medina, visiting director at the Bristol Old Vic, said: "We want everyone in Bristol to feel invited to come to Bristol Old Vic, and to have a real sense of belonging the minute they walk through the doors.
