The Allahabad High Court recently declined to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that prayed for directions to enact a law for the protection of men from illegal prosecution and harassment by women [Chandrama Vishvakarma v. Union of India and 3 Others]
The Division Bench of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Kshitij Shailendra said that except for reference to certain news items, "wholly cursory averments" were made in the petition. Thus, it dismissed the PIL.
" No case is made out in the petition for entertaining the same as public interest litigation. The petition is, therefore, dismissed ," the Court said in the order passed on September 24.
