A warning has been issued to every Nuneaton and Bedworth council tenant. The local authority has urged all of those who live in council properties to be on their guard and not allow anyone into their homes without checking their identification (ID).
No details have been issued about specific incidents but the council has stressed that it wants to keep its residents 'safe and secure'. The Town Hall has stressed that all council staff and contractors are required to carry and present valid ID, with a photo, when visiting properties.
"If someone claims to be from the council but cannot present proper ID, do not let them in," the local authority said in a statement.
It has issued advice to tenants what to look out for, and also what to do if they suspect someone is a bogus council official
