Gary Neville inspired the Wales squad's viral reaction to England's Euro 2016 exit, according to their former captain.

Ashley Williams was part of the Dragons squad which reached the semi-finals in France nine years ago.

However, their run to the last four was not without a setback during the group stage.

Wales were beaten 2-1 in Lens by the Three Lions following a stoppage time winner from Daniel Sturridge.

The goal prompted wild celebrations in the England dugout, notably from Roy Hodgson's assistant manager.

Neville sprinted down the touchline to join the players by the corner flag before exchanging words with the Welsh bench on his way back.

Williams revealed in 2021 that his antics were the catalyst for Wales celebrating England's last 16 loss to Iceland.
