The stock market on Tuesday erased some of the intraday gains but managed to close on a positive note. Nifty closed above the 25,100 amid buying seen in the auto, consumer durables, oil & gas, energy, and realty names.

At close, the Sensex was up 136.63 points or 0.17% at 81,926.75, and the Nifty was up 30.65 points or 0.12% at 25,108.30. The BSE Midcap index added 0.4% and the smallcap index ended marginally lower.

Among the sectors, those with significant losses were Nifty FMCG down by 0.53%, Media down by 0.46%, and PSU Bank down by 0.41%. On the contrary, those with gains were Nifty Realty up by 1.09%, Oil & Gas up by 0.49%, and Pharma up by 0.44%, Nifty Bank and Financial Services rose by 0.24% each.

On Nifty, the top gainers were Jio Financial Services up by 1.42%,
