New Delhi witnessed a sharp change in weather on Tuesday, October 7, as heavy rain and gusty winds swept across the capital and neighbouring cities. While the downpour offered much-needed relief from lingering heat, it also led to flight delays, traffic congestion and waterlogging in several parts of the city. Intermittent showers began early in the morning and continued throughout the day. After a short pause in the afternoon, thick clouds rolled back in, followed by another round of heavy rain and strong winds across central and south Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad.
IMD warns of thunderstorms and strong winds
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the rain was triggered by a western disturbance moving across northwest India. It issued yellow and orange alerts for Delhi, c
