So when Slash of Guns & Roses decided to revive his favorite shaggy fantasy film, the Roger Corman-produced 1983 cult favorite Deathstalker, there were very few directors capable of nailing the exact nostalgic-but-not tone a modern update required. Luckily (in my opinion), he landed an absolute visionary for the job: Frankie Freako and PG: Psycho Goreman director Steven Kostanski.
