PORTLAND, Ore. — A Gervais man, 29-year-old Jairin Anzaldua-Ervin, appeared in federal court for assaulting a federal officer near South Portland’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office after throwing a water bottle at him.

Anzaldua-Ervin was charged by criminal complaint with the felony offense of assaulting a federal officer for an incident on October 4 and appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge yesterday. Felony assault of a federal officer is punishable by up to eight years in federal prison.
