1Motorcyclist killed in Montrose Road crash after car turns into his path

Gaithersburg, MD – A Sunday morning ride turned deadly for a Rockville man when his motorcycle was struck by a car making a turn on Montrose Road, killing him at the scene.

Montgomery County Police said 63-year-old Charles Anthony Hawkins was fatally injured around 8:30 a.m. when a red 2014 Toyota Camry attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Montrose Road onto Tildenwood Drive and collided with Hawkins, who was traveling westbound on his gray 1977 Kawasaki motorcycle.

Emergency crews from the 1st and 2nd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded, but Hawkins succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Camry remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
