Detroit police said the public can expect an increased presence downtown Tuesday and Wednesday for the Tigers-Mariners games.
"We're excited for the Tigers' playoff," Detroit Police Cmdr. Matthew Fulgenzi of the Third Precinct said in a media briefing Tuesday at the police department's headquarters. "This is great for the city of Detroit. We have an extremely safe downtown area, and we're happy for the Tigers."
He estimated the crowd for the games will be larger than the stadium's 41,000 capacity since they have been sold out.
"We're going to have a large gathering downtown," the commander said. "We are prepared."
