Detroit's Anchor Bar is offering free meals to federal employees with valid identification during the government shutdown.
Anchor Bar was founded in 1957 and is known as a gathering place for Detroiters and local professionals.
The federal government shutdown is on its seventh day on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Michigan has about 35,000 federal employees. Some are furloughed while others are working without pay during the shutdown.
