Walt Disney Studios has acquired the film rights to Katherine Rundell's Impossible Creatures. Started in 2023, the series follows a young boy named Christopher who stumbles into a magical world and meets a girl named Mal, with whom he forms an alliance to save the magical creatures of this world. Two of the five books in the series have been published, and author Rundell has become a breakout writer, being awarded Author of the Year and Children’s Book of the Year at The British Book Awards in 2024. She also became the first U.K. children’s author since J.K. Rowling to simultaneously reach the number one position on the children’s book charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
