Looking to revive its fortunes in India, Japanese auto brand Nissan on Tuesday announced that it will debut its upcoming sports utility vehicle (SUV) named Tekton in the April-June period of 2026.
According to the company’s top management, the car will be produced at a factory in Chennai, which is owned by its partner, Renault. Its platform will be shared with Renault for its own SUV. Though Nissan has not given details about the positioning of the vehicle, it is calling it a C-SUV.
Renault is planning its own range of products for the Indian market, which includes the comeback of the Duster SUV. Both the Duster and the Tekton will compete against the segment best-seller Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and the Tata Curvv.
