ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Dutton Island Preserve, a park in Atlantic Beach, is closed indefinitely due to "significant hazards" associated with recent flooding, the city announced Monday .
The city told First Coast News moderate flooding during times of high tide will expand throughout the St. Johns River basin late this week and throughout the weekend. Because of this, the park is closed until further notice, the city said.
The city added that the closure will be in effect until at least Sunday, Oct. 12.
"The safety of our visitors is our top priority," the city said in a release. "The preserve will remain closed until staff determines when conditions are safe for public access and use. Please do not attempt to enter the preserve while the closure is in effect. We appreciate your coop
