OURFest, Philadelphia’s National Coming Out Day festival, is back on Oct. 12 with a day-long event that runs 12-7 p.m. But the festivities got started a little early this year — with a week of new events happening across the city.
Tyrell Brown, founder of Philly Pride 365 — the organization that cultivates the city’s Pride and OURFest events, wanted the events leading up to OURFest — which also include a poetry slam, Friday night party and fundraiser, and a resource fair hosted outside the Gayborhood — to continue in the spirit of the broader festival by sharing resources but also by encouraging LGBTQ+ people to get to know one another as they consider what it will take to fortify the queer community during ongoing attacks from the Trump administration.
