“Monster: The Ed Gein Story” debuted with 12.2 million views in its first four three on Netflix.

That’s just a hair lower than the debut of “Monsters” Season 2, subtitled “The Lyle and Erik Menendez” story, which reached 12.3 million views in 2024. However, the “Menendez” debut was calculated over a four-day opening weekend, while “Ed Gein” only had three days to rack up views before the release of the Netflix Top 10. It’s presumable that the latter would have accrued enough views in a fourth day to surpass its predecessor.

The new season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s crime anthology series landed in second place on the English-language TV chart during the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5. The only show to beat it was “ Wayward ,” Mae Martin’s mystery series that achieved 14.1 million views
