TIGARD, Ore. (KPTV) - A bicyclist was rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning after they were hit by a driver in Tigard.

Just after 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a crash on Highway 99W, just north of Southwest Walnut Street. Police say witnesses reported the bicyclist was heading southbound on the sidewalk, then moved into the bike lane, crossed the southbound lanes and was hit by a driver who was going northbound.

According to police, the bicyclist, a 48-year-old man whose name was not released., was not wearing a helmet.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The involved driver stayed at the scene. Police say officers do not believe the driver was at fault and no charges will be filed.
