SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - On November 4, voters in Spartanburg County District 5 will decide on a $200 million dollar school bond referendum which officials said comes with no tax increase.
District officials said the referendum comes after rapid growth in the district. Enrollment has jumped nearly 30% over the past 10 years.
Already, several of schools are close to capacity and that trend isn't slowing down.
"With that growth comes challenge, but also good. There are districts that are losing enrollment and when you’re growing, that gives us the opportunity to do these projects without an increase to mileage for our taxpayers," said Randall Gary, the District 5 superintendent.
