A search of available public records shows more than a dozen past interactions between law enforcement officers and Shedrick Mills, who is suspected of shooting and injuring an Omaha police officer during a confrontation at a west Omaha gas station Monday morning.

Omaha Police Officer Steven Murcek and another officer responded to a disturbance at a QuikTrip store, 111910 West Dodge Road, after employees reported Mills acting strangely on the property.

According to an OPD press release, Mills, 36, began speaking with officers about the "KKK" and claimed he was being followed.

After refusing the officers' requests to leave, police said Mills resisted Murcek's attempt to put him in handcuffs and pulled out a handgun, firing once at Murcek and striking him in the head.
