NEWARK - A $250,000 grant awarded to United Way of Greater Newark will be used to support Asset Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed (ALICE) families' access to critical resources and financial support that they need to thrive, at a time when nearly one in three Newark children live in poverty.
Citi Foundation has given United Way of Greater Newark the grant to support households in Newark who fall below the ALICE threshold.
These households are working families who live paycheck to paycheck, and struggle to meet basic needs such as housing, childcare, food, transportation, health care and technology.
“As a result of rising costs, government job loss and companies laying people off, more people are now going to be living in the margins, so we’re seeing more people who are showing up
