DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is encouraging residents to participate in the upcoming City-School Election.
Voters can begin casting ballots on October 15, marking the start of the absentee voting period. On that day, Iowans can vote in person at their local county election office or receive mailed absentee ballots.
Secretary Pate advised voters to submit absentee ballot requests early. Written applications must reach the county auditor's office by 5:00 p.m. on October 20. Absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 4. The USPS recommends mailing ballots at least one week before this deadline to ensure timely delivery.
