The Oklahoma Ethics Commission is investigating Ryan Walters — again
The Republican resigned as state schools superintendent Sept. 30 to become the chief executive officer of a new nonprofit organization called the Teacher Freedom Alliance.
In a public statement on Oct. 7, the Ethics Commission revealed it is actively investigating potential violations of its conflict of interest rule "as related to ... Walters' departure."
"The Commission is gathering materials and information within its authority to determine the relevant facts and make an appropriate and responsible determination regarding these allegations," it said.
After an investigation, the Ethics Commission could sue Walters for possibly up to $100,000, settle with him for a lesser amount or determine no violations took plac
