GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) — A group of veterans will travel from Kalamazoo Saturday to visit Washington D.C. as part of a Talons Out Honor Flight.
They will visit Arlington National Cemetery and pay their respects at monuments on the National Mall. Visiting the nation’s capital is something Vietnam Veteran Bob Crans is looking forward to.
“It’s a shared experience with the other vets,” Crans said.
He served in the Navy and will be one of the 83 veterans traveling on the Talons Out Honor Flight. They will be with guardians that will help them along the way.
“I know they understand the fact that some of us are in our late 70s now and the age factor is a difference in who’s going and you’ve got to look out for them and that’s why you have to have a guardian,” Crans said.
