Officials representing Israel and Hamas continue indirect talks in Egypt after both sides signaled support for a U.S. drafted peace plan.

The talks aim to iron out details for the first phase, which would include a release of the remaining hostages held by Hamas and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

Many uncertainties remain around the latest plan, including the demand to disarm Hamas and the future of governance in Gaza.

President Donald Trump's Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law and former Middle East advisor Jared Kushner have been expected to help join the talks to help move negotiations forward.

Michael O'Hanlon, director of Research for Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution, joined "The Rush Hour" on Tuesday to talk about the negotiations.
