Jim Goodwin has urged Will Ferry to go and take that next step and win his first Ireland cap. ‌

The Dundee United vice-captain has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Armenia. ‌

The 24-year-old has been handed his first call-up by Heimir Hallgrimsson, after Sammie Szmodics and Callum O’Dowda pulled out through injury. ‌

Goodwin knows his left wing-back is more than capable of making his mark for Ireland. The Tannadice boss claimed: “What Will did last season he’s carried on into this year, he’s shown real consistency.
