Niagara Region’s controversial plan to build a roundabout at York and Four Mile Creek roads in Niagara-on-the-Lake continues to leave the community concerned about pedestrian safety and the cost of the project.
Region officials have said construction is not scheduled to begin until 2027, following ongoing archeological investigation through this fall. Next year, the Region will be acquiring property and relocating utilities.
The roundabout and design has been projected to cost about $3.8 million, but that figure does not include property acquisition.
And the project for months has had some locals bothered.
St. Davids Ratepayers Association president Dan Segal and past-president Mike Pearsall shared concerns during Tuesday’s public works committee meeting, when they asked committee memb
