Steven Lugerner is anything but typical. Based out of San Francisco, this multi-instrumentalist and composer is a deep, thought-provoking musician who creates layers of sound with everything he does. They say, in jazz, it’s also about the notes one doesn’t play, and when listening to Lugerner it’s easy to see why. Everything he plays or writes is very deliberate and fits perfectly into the composition yet flows seamlessly in a way that it just sounds like second nature to him. This Saturday, he’s presenting his latest album, Urban Crawl, as the leader of the SLUGish Ensemble, blending jazz and chamber music into an intimate experience for the listener.
