A pharmaceutical company is laying off 55 people in the King of Prussia area.

Vifor Pharma Inc. has filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, informing the state it is laying off employees at 1000 First Ave., Suite 300, in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.

The layoffs will take place on Dec. 1.

Vifor Pharma Inc. is owned by CSL Behring, which develops therapies for people living with conditions in the immunology, hematology, cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory, and transplant therapeutic areas. CSL Behring’s parent company, CSL is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, and employs more than 29,000 people.
