DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora parents and guardians will now be fined if their child rides off-highway vehicles such as dirt bikes on city streets, according to the city's mayor.
Mayor Mike Coffman said Aurora City Council passed the new law Monday evening after an "increase in accidents and injuries" involving teens riding off-road vehicles on roads in the city. Parents and guardians will now be penalized with a $250 fine.
"Unfortunately, some parents continue to allow minors to possess and ride off-highway vehicles on city streets, sidewalks, open spaces, and around local business," said Coffman in a Facebook post.
