CLEVELAND, Ohio — Thirteen area high school football games in Northeast Ohio this week will be played on Thursday night to allow those schools’ teachers to participate in NEOEA Day.
The annual event is put on by the North Eastern Ohio Education Association. According to the union’s website, it will put on programs that “provide growth opportunities.” Most teachers are given the day off for the event.
“Most people who help put the games together and work are teachers,” said Garfield Heights athletic director Michael Cruz, whose school will play Warrensville Heights on Thursday afternoon.
Other games include rivalries, such as Eastlake North vs. Willoughby South, Bedford vs. Maple Heights and Harvey vs. Perry. Buckeye, which is ranked 25th in the cleveland.com Top 25 , will play host to
