LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Tuesday morning happened to be day two of the murder trial of Alfredo Villarreal.

Down at the 49th District Court, a police officer and former detective took the stand for what was the 11th homicide back in the year 2022.

The officer and the detective described how they arrested Christopher Salinas and Javier Contreras. Both are accused of the murder of Villarreal.

Villarreal was found dead inside a car at the 300 block of International Boulevard.

Monday, opening statements from Salinas’ attorney Joey Tellez told jurors to focus on the future two witnesses, Kayleen Contreras and Damian Contreras.

The defense says Damian Contreras happened to be the mastermind behind the crime and not their clients.
