As summer continues to cling to Tulsa with its final breaths, unwilling to let go, hockey season is right around the corner.

The Tulsa Oilers opened training camp at the WeStreet Ice Center this week, and the players and coaching staff are ready to drop the puck for real.

"We're all excited to be going and get this new season on the fly."

Rob Murray is entering his 23rd season of coaching, ninth as Oilers head coach, and says he's eager to get back on the ice.

"The excitement never changes. It's as exciting this year as it was last, or the year before," says Murray.

The Oilers are coming off back-to-back first-round playoff exits, but Murray says his team made a big improvement with last year's loss to the Kansas City Mavericks in six games.
