WACO, Texas — A routine demolition project in Lufkin has turned into a viral sensation after contractors uncovered a vintage Dr Pepper mural hidden inside an old jailhouse slated for redevelopment.
The decades-old advertisement, which experts believe dates back to the 1920s and 1930s, has captured attention on social media for its glimpse into a bygone era of soft drink marketing.
The city immediately paused demolition work when the mural was discovered and is now evaluating the building's structure while exploring preservation options.
